Golf clubs

Golf is a sport that actually doesn’t require a lot in the way of equipment. The few that you need though are quite specialized pieces, and the quality is very important. There’s golf shoes, golfing gloves, a spiffy hat, a funny pair of pants…and of course, the most important pieces of equipment are golf clubs.

Golf clubs come in many shapes and sizes, and each of them is designed for a specific use. With the different types available on the market today coming from many different manufacturers, it can be very confusing to decide which ones to buy. You should take the time to research all your options carefully however as this is by far the most important piece of equipment that you will use.

Choosing the right golf clubs is obviously a very crucial decision to make if you are planning to play golf competitively, but even at the hobby level, some care and thought should be taken so that you don’t end up with the wrong kind. A good source of information is the online forums that you can find on many golfing websites. Forums like these normally have a lot of members who have considerably more experience than you in these matters and the advice that they give could be invaluable.

You could also talk to some people who have been playing golf for a number of years or better yet ask someone who has been playing golf professionally. Of course, not everyone is in a position to actually be acquainted with a pro golfer but if you do, you will find them to be a great source of information.

For casual golfers, the brand of golf clubs does not really matter very much, but if you intend to be in this sport for the long haul, you may wish to go with any of the proven name brands that are currently available such as Titleist, Taylor Made and Callaway. These will obviously be a lot more expensive than the lesser-known brands but with the quality of the material, construction, durability and reliability, the cost will pay off in the long run.

Of course, you can opt to purchase a second hand set of golf clubs or even just rent a set every time you hit the greens. This is probably the most cost effective option and it has worked well for many causal golfers. You have to realize however that these golf clubs have been broken in by other people and their “feel” may not be right for your technique. There is something to be said about playing a set of golf clubs that you have broken in yourself and that you are closely attuned to.
